The original site was constructed and completed in January of 2000. Initially it met the needs of the organization. However, as the amount of information offered increased it became clear that a redesign was needed.
The first order of business was to reorganize the information. Once it was categorized, attention was turned to the navigation system. In the original design graphics were used as navigation buttons. The design was very static and unable to adapt to many necessary changes.
The web site was constructed using the latest web standards. Those standards include XHTML, Cascading Style Sheets, and 508 compliance for the visually impaired.
Michael Birmingham wanted a site that represented his philosophy: "Quality......without Compromise." The color of his fleet, silver and black, is present throughout the site lending a look and feel of refinement and sophistication. The top navigation is grouped to provide visitors with topics of interest. Page navigation is provided to help visitors locate the precise information they need.
When Mr. DuBose approached me about designing a site for his architectural/design firm, he wanted something that was clean and professional, but not overly conservative. From a design standpoint the site needed to convey and strong sense of precision and attention to detail. It also needed to tie into his existing marketing materials.
